Materna increases group earnings significantly in first half of 2019
Public Sector and SAP consulting most important growth drivers in the group

Materna is very satisfied with the first half of 2019. In comparison to the same period in the previous year, turnover for the group has grown by 7.9 percent to 149 million Euros. Adjusted by the effects of the sale of Message Mobile GmbH on 1st April 2019, they have even achieved growth of 9.2 percent. EBIT grew at an above average rate by 34 percent to 14.7 million Euros (previous year 10.9 million Euros). The biggest drivers behind this growth are solutions for the public sector and SAP consulting services for internationally active industrial companies. Recruitment is still working well too: the Materna Group’s total number of staff has topped 2,200 for the first time, with more than 160 additional employees compared to June last year.
“Last year the Materna Group’s turnover increased by 13.5 percent to a total of 288,6 million Euros showing growth well above average for the sector. After a very positive first half of the year, we are once again expecting another increase in turnover for the 2019 business year, combined with a well-above-average improvement in EBIT”, reports Michael Knopp, CEO of the Materna Group.
For the future, Materna will be paying special attention to extending their cloud business and on the development of cloud native applications which the company runs as managed services for their customers. Their preferred technologies here include Amazon Web Services (AWS) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Where artificial intelligence is concerned, Materna focuses on the product IBM Cloud.
Materna’s core business includes solutions for public sector administrations, the development of business-critical software applications, enterprise service management, cloud and IT management, solutions for automated passenger handling at airports and international SAP projects.
